Deut. 11:18,19, KJV Therefore shall ye lay up these my
words ("dabar" - Strong's 1697) in your heart and in your soul,
and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as
frontlets between your eyes. And ye shall teach ("lamad" -
Strong's #3925) them your children, speaking of them when thou
sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when
thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
The Hebrew word "lamad" means to teach by incentive
(goad on), skillfully, expertly and diligently. Use of words
starting with the same letter is a memory aid that goes back to
Bible times. Many of the Psalms and other passages in Scripture
use successive letters of the alphabet to start each verse. Psalm
119 is an exceptional example where each of the 22 sections of the
Psalm has each verse start with the letter of that
section.
The following is a list of Christian behaviors and
actions that we should exhibit in our lives - these flow from the
Christ nature within. Note that each letter is also a three-fold
progression (Prov. 22:20), which will come as we continue in our
relationship with our Lord. May this study be a blessing to you as
you go through the Christian ABC's. |
